This extremely rare, elegant, and botanically completely new Alocasia 'Sabrina' (also often known as 'Sabrina Narrow') is a true find for tropical plant collectors! It is a recently discovered species from the forests of Sulawesi (Indonesia), distinguished by its elongated, distinctly arrow-shaped leaves and deeply wavy edges. Visually, its leaf shape closely resembles the famous 'Jacklyn' variety, but unlike it, 'Sabrina' leaves are absolutely smooth and glossy, further highlighting the dark green color and expressive veining. Moreover, its neat stems are luxuriously spotted, reminiscent of zebra stripes! Currently, it is a small young plant, but with proper care, it will grow into a breathtaking, vertical, and architectural houseplant that will add a luxury-class natural accent to any interior. It is an exclusive, somewhat demanding, but rewarding gift for experienced plant lovers and rarity hunters!
CARE INSTRUCTIONS:
-
☀️ Light: Bright but diffused light. For this unique and rare plant to develop its elongated leaves and spotted stems, it requires a large amount of light. However, strictly protect it from direct, scorching midday sun rays, which will quickly burn and fade its beautiful leaves. An east or west-facing windowsill is an absolutely excellent choice.
-
💧 Watering: Regular but extremely careful! Here lies the main secret of young plants: the small seedlings are very sensitive both to drying out and overwatering. Keep the soil evenly lightly moist, but allow the top layer to dry slightly between waterings. It absolutely cannot tolerate root soaking in standing water in the saucer, which will very quickly cause root and stem rot.
-
🌡️ Temperature/Humidity: Loves warmth and literally adores very high air humidity! Since this is an exclusive and tropical seedling, a humidifier or plant terrarium is almost essential for its survival and flawless appearance. In dry indoor air, its leaf tips will quickly brown and the plant will become susceptible to spider mites. Strictly protect it from cold drafts!
-
🐾 Pets: Strictly not pet-friendly. Like all alocasias, this one is toxic to cats and dogs. Its sap contains calcium oxalate crystals, which cause severe irritation of the mouth and throat, drooling, and digestive issues if chewed. Keep it completely out of reach of pets!
🏠 MOST SUITABLE LOCATION:
-
Bright plant terrarium (an absolutely ideal and protected environment for such a small rarity, where it can enjoy constant and high air humidity).
-
Bright and warm spot near a direct air humidifier.
SPECIFICATIONS:
-
Height: 10-15 cm (young plant)
-
Pot diameter: 10.5 cm
⚠️ Note and reality check about young plants: Plants are living organisms, so each specimen and the intensity of its leaf waviness may vary slightly. It is extremely important to keep in mind that you are receiving a young plant! Small, rare plants require much gentler and more patient care than mature, large specimens. It is important to know nature’s secrets: alocasias, especially at an early age, very often sacrifice their old leaves for the new ones! It is completely normal that as a new, beautiful leaf grows, the bottom leaf slowly turns yellow and withers – don’t panic and simply carefully cut it off at the base. When repotting this plant, be sure to use an extremely airy and loose aroid soil mix (generously mixed with perlite, fine orchid bark, and sphagnum moss) so its sensitive roots can breathe freely, protecting them from the risk of rot!
